Hats off to the local brews.

The American Home Brewers Association's magazine, Zymurgy, ranks Bell's Brewery of Kalamazoo County, the top brewery in the nation, followed by Founders Brewing Company of Grand Rapids as Number Two. In all, 25 breweries are listted.

The recognition is a reminder for Michiganders "not to take our fantastic beer scene for granted," writes Robert Allen of the Detroit Free Press

Additionally, Bell's Two Hearted Ale is frated first among beers and Founder's Breakfast Stout is third. Bell's Hopslam is fifth and Founders KBS (Kentucky Breakfast Stout) is sixth.
