Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera is suspended seven games for fighting in a Thursday afternoon game at Comerica Park against the New York Yankees, ESPN reports.

These others also are penalized:

  • Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez receives a four-game suspension for fighting, including throwing punches.
  • Yankees catcher Austin Romine received a two-game suspension for fighting with Cabrera.
  • Tigers pitcher Alex Wilson was suspended four games for intentionally throwing a pitch at Todd Frazier.
  • Tigers manager Brad Ausmus was given a one-game suspension for the intentional actions of Wilson while warnings were in place.

All five also are fined undisclosed amounts.

"I figured because it started with Miggy that his would be big," Ausmus says, according to ESPN. "I'm a little surprised at how short Gary Sanchez's is, quite frankly, considering some of the video I saw. I think that one probably shocked me the most. I thought he would get the largest suspension."
