Detroit News: Federal inmates are eligible to be moved to a halfway house within one year of their projected release. On average, inmates are transferred to halfway houses in the last four or six months of their term. Federal inmates released to halfway houses need a driver's license or state identification and must pursue employment, according to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.

Thankfully, Conyers’ pursuit of employment won’t include a return to public office. The wife of U.S. Congressman John Conyers is ineligible to serve thanks to a new law that bans anyone convicted of violating the public trust from running for office for 20 years.
