A Monroe police officer was shot and wounded Sunday night while trying to arrest two men suspected of carjacking a woman.
The incident happened at 8 p.m. around 2nd and Winchester when the officer responded to a carjack victim who had been struck on the head with a gun, WXYZ reports.
The officer, Cpl. Renae Peterson, later spotted the stolen vehicle at North Dixie Highway and Ternes Drive. She got out of the car and was shot twice. The suspects then drove off in the car, and after a brief chase, were taken into custody.
