This could be one of biggest moves by the Matty Moroun family to improve the Michigan Central Station in southwest Detroit.
HistoricDetroit.org reports on its Facebook page that the Morouns have pulled permits for work at the station including the installation of a freight elevator.
The site writes:
Morouns pull permits for $676K in work at Michigan Central Station in #Detroit, City Hall sources tell us. Details:
Permits include installation of a 9,000-pound capacity freight elevator inside the old smokestack mechanical shaft and safety improvements such as railings on interior staircases. JC Beal Construction Inc. reported general contractor. Quinn Evans Architects reported architectural firm.
The elevator is said to help speed up the installation of more windows on the building.
Stay tuned.
