Deputy Chief David LeValley: "None of these appear to be random."

In what police describe as the most violent and deadliest weekend in Detroit of 2018, six people were killed and nine wounded at 10 shooting scenes during Easter Weekend.

“The scenes were spread across the city,” Deputy Chief David LeValley says at a press conference broadcast live on WXYZ's Facebook page. (A seven-minute video is below). “This was a weekend that was out of the norm.”

One person has been arrested, adds the deputy chief, who voices confidence about more arrests.

He doesn't speculate on what's behind the spike in the shootings, some of which involved domestic disputes or drugs. "None of these appear to be random acts of violence," he says. "Overall, crime is down."

These were among the shootings, according to WXYZ: A woman in her 20s and a 51-year-old man who were fatally shot in the  8000 block of Rosemont Ave. and a 38-year-old man who was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting in the 8700 block of Michigan Avenue.
