A woman was arrested in Detroit Thursday after leaving her three young daughters home alone, according Detroit Police. The mother left the house to take her fiance to the hospital after he was shot by the woman's 16-year-old son in an argument.

Police officers contacted Child Protective Services after finding the children.

According to the Free Press:

Officers found the girls, ages 1, 4, and 5, in “deplorable” conditions at the home on Ardmore on the city’s west side, said Detroit Police 3rd Deputy Chief Rodney Johnson.

“There was no food in the house, and I think only one bed in the house, as well,” he said.

The Detroit News adds that when the woman left the house, her 16 and 19-year-old sons were also home, but fled shortly after. Police are still looking for the 16 year old responsible for the shooting.
