Motor City Brewing Works, on West Canfield Street in Midtown Detroit, will opening a second location on Livernois, Crain's Detroit Business reports. The new place is scheduled to open next summer.
Owners John Linardos and Dan Scarsella said they looked for locations in Oakland County and elsewhere.
"We just kept coming back to Detroit. We all live here and wanted to be part of a neighborhood and a location accessible by foot and bike," Linardos tells Marti Benedetti:
Motor City Brewing, the second-oldest microbrewery in Michigan after Comstock-based Bell's Brewery Inc., will lease 2,000 square feet in the former Hunter Supper Club building at 19350 Livernois Ave. It will be joined by Slyde, a fast casual, gourmet slider restaurant. Both businesses will share the horseshoe-shaped courtyard that is part of a 10,000-square-foot building owned by Chad Dickinson, co-owner of I'm Here LLC that has been restoring and remodeling the structure for almost five years.
