Prof. Mary Finn
Michigan State University Professor Mary Finn of the School of Criminal Justice has written a paper on pimps peddling prostitution online, reports Kevin Dietz of WDIV.
Finn interviewed 71 pimps she found online in Atlanta and Chicago and paid them $60 each to find out more about the business, DIetz reports. Finn discovered that the average income of an online pimp is $75,000 per year, and many earned more.
The East Lansing criminologist also notes that online sex trafficking is much harder for police to find and estimates that 80 percent of sex sales are arranged online.
