Crime still plagues Detroit. It's still a major problem in the city.
Still, major crimes declined in 2015 compared to the previous year, according to the Detroit News.
James Dickson of the Detroit News reports that Detroit recorded 295 homicides in 2015, a drop of one percent. Rapes were down 17 percent compared to 2014 and 24 percent from 2013.
Robberies were down 18 percent from 2014, and 35 percent compared to 2013. Violent crime statistics were down across the board, and fell 7 percent, the News reports.
On the downside, larcenies were up 4 percent compared to 2014. Burglaries and auto thefts were down.
