Michigan State police are trying to determine how a Dearborn Heights cop and a friend ended up dead inside a garage in Dearborn Heights, Fox 2 reports.
The cop was identified as John Burdick, 46, an 18-year department veteran and father of two.
His body was found in the garage at a home in the 8500 block of Lochdale Street where the other victim, James McEwen. They were close friends and neighbors, the station says.
Drug paraphernalia was found at the scene, WDIV reports.
Authorities have ruled out a murder-suicide and a carbon monoxide poisoning, Fox 2 reports.
