After getting surprised by the Donald Trump victory, the media is trying to figure out just what happened.
NBC's Chuck Todd, moderator of “Meet the Press” and the network's political director, did a deep dive into Macomb County on Friday to talk to the electorate, including those who voted for Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012, but went Republican this time.
"Spending much the day in Macomb County, MI, talking to Obama-Trump voters," Todd tweeted on Friday. " One consistent critique: Trump came, Clinton didn't."
Todd visited Kuhnhenn Brewing, Little Joe’s Coney Island and Wico Metal, and spoke to both Trump and Clinton supporters and some Reagan Democrats who never returned to the Democratic Party.
The piece will be shown Sunday on the Meet the Press, which airs at 10:30 a.m. in Detroit on WDIV.
"The other thing you hear A LOT is NAFTA and there is one political brand name these folks associate with it: Clinton," Todd tweeted.
On NBC's First Read newsletter, Todd writes:

How much patience will these voters have with Trump? They gave Obama two terms but weren't satisfied enough to elect his successor. an Trump restore their hope? How high are the expectations for him? Meet the Press will spend part of Sunday in Macomb County, MI, to begin to try and answer some of these questions. Will the Trump presidency live or die based on how Macomb goes
