Remember early on when some people were desperate to get the Covid shot and tried every which way to make it happen?
Fast forward.
With the demand slowing, and some folks hesitant to get a shot, Michigan has wasted 193,291 vaccines to date, WXYZ reports, with 156,238 unusable since May 25.
Some were wasted due to dropped or broken vials, but most expired before they could be used -- as forecast last month by the state health department, which warned that up to 400,000 vaccines could expire if not used in the next four weeks. Michigan stopped ordering vaccines through a federal system six weeks ago, the agency says.
Health officials around the state, as well as the White House, have been encouraging hesitant people to step up and get the vaccine as the powerful Delta variant spreads.
