Russell Street Deli

Soup is good any time, but the winter is best.

Brenna Houck of Eater Detroit lists seven great places to get soup in Metro Detroit. It's obviously tough limiting the list to seven. We'd add the Stage Deli in West Bloomfield that makes good matzo ball soup and mushroom barley.

Here's Eater's list:

Mudgie's: 1300 Porter St., Detroit

Pho Lucky: 23838 Joy Rd., Redford

Johnny Noodle King: 2601 W. Fort St., Detroit, MI

The Fly Trap: 22950 Woodward Ave., Ferndale

Russell Street Deli: 2465 Russell St., Detroit

Selden Standard: 3921 Second Ave., Detroit

El Asador Mexican Steakhouse: 1312 Springwells St., Detroit

Here's what Eater writes about one of our favorite places, Russell Deli in Eastern Market:

In addition to excellent sandwiches, Russell Street is known for its veritable smorgasbord of vegan, vegetarian, and meat-based soups.

On Johnny Noodle King, Eater writes:

Sit down to a steaming hot bowl of ramen at Johnny Noodle King. The restaurant offers a diverse array of flavor profiles from kimchi, to miso, to minestrone.
