Stik.com, a social media company that uses the Facebook platform to help users get recommendations from friends on professional services, announced Tuesday that it has moved from San Francisco to Detroit and is joining the emerging tech hub in the Madison Building, according to Crain's Detroit Business.

The Madison is one of the buildings Dan Gilbert, founder of Quicken Loans Inc., has bought to house some of the tech companies that recently have sprung up locally.

Tom Henderson reports Gilbert also has agreed to invest in Stik.com through an investment round by another of his portfolio companies, Detroit Venture Partners, a round joined by North Coast Technology Investors LP, an Ann Arbor-based venture capital firm.

Stik's co-founders, Jay Gierak and Nathan Labenz, originally are from the Detroit area. They attended Harvard University together and were housemates with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
