New UAW President Expected to Address Two-Tier Wage System

And so Dennis Williams, the United Auto Worker's secretary-treasurer, becomes the union's 11th president.

UAW delegates overwhelmingly elected him Wednesday, and members now want him to address the divisive two-tier wage system, the Detroit News reports.

The News reports that he  plans to make the subject of two-tier wages a prominent part of his first presidential address on Thursday afternoon.

Veteran workers make about $28 an hour, but newer workers start at half that rate and top out at $19 an hour.
