Get ready for a heavy collision of entrepreneurial lingo -- Detroit is getting a pop-up for start-ups.

Really, it's a conference, called the NewME Pop-Up (short for New Media Entrepreneurship) that will run May 29-31 at Tech Town, 440 Burroughs Street in the New Center area of Detroit.

The pop-up event is an abbreviation of a 12-week training program NewME offers in San Francisco to coach tech start-ups and connect them with investors. NewME Pop-Ups occur around the country and cost $99 per start-up.

During the pop-ups, the program looks for promising startups to invite to the 12-week program in San Francisco.

Amy Haimerl at Crain's writes:

Participants will get one-on-one coaching sessions and workshops to improve their presentations. Plus, they'll get to pitch their ideas to a panel that includes Jim Xiao, an analyst at Detroit Venture Partners.
