Bill Bonds, in that iconic YouTube meltdown, once asked his crew why he couldn’t simply deliver “a short declarative sentence: ‘Good evening I’m Bill Bonds, nothing is new, good night.”

If Bonds were still at WXYZ, he could utter such a statement to begin tonight's 6:00 newscast because nothing is new.

At least not in the Detroit mayoral race and the battle over Mike Duggan’s eligibility.

The Michigan Court of Appeals punched out without rendering a decision on Duggan’s request for a reversal of the Wayne County Circuit Court ruling booting him from the ballot.

Perhaps we will have some actual news on this subject tomorrow.
