The Belle Isle Aquarium will reopen to the public three days a month beginning next month, according to the Detroit News.
Mayor Dave Bing will cut a ribbon to rededicate the facility as early as Sept. 14.
The aquarium, which has been mostly closed on the isle since 2005, will be open one Sunday a month and the first and third Saturdays of the month.
City officials have been working with the Belle Isle Conservancy, which will operate the facility with volunteers, for months.
