Northern Michigan Man Fatally Shot After Attacking Deputy With Crossbow

A man who shot a Montcalm County Sheriff's deputy with a crossbow in Cato Township in northern Michigan on Friday night was shot and killed by authorities, WWTV in Cadillac reports.

The stations reports that the deputy was in stable condition and had surgery on Saturday.

The station reports that deputies from Montcalm County Sheriff's Department and state troopers were executing an arrest warrant for the man when he allegedly shot the deputy with a crossbow.

A state trooper then shot the suspect at least once, the station reports.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

That trooper is on administrative leave while State Police do their investigation, the station reports.
