Emergency Manager Steven Rhodes
More Detroit school workers could be facing a judge in the future.
Steven Rhodes, the outgoing emergency manager for the the Detroit Public Schools, told state lawmakers in Lansing on Tuesday that the district’s inspector general has uncovered more potential criminal wrongdoing among more employees, Chad Livengood writes in The Detroit News. Rhodes was delivering an update on progress of the district.
Rhodes hired Inspector General Bernadette Kakooza last April during an FBI investigation into kickbacks involving 13 school officials and a contractor for the district who ended up being indicted.
“She does have several matters under investigation at the present time that may result in further criminal investigations and charges,” Rhodes says of Kakooza. He declined to be more specific.
