Novi Hotel Ground-Breaking Shows Signs Of Life in Suburbia

The owner of Novi's Suburban Collection Showplace and Hyatt executives broke ground Tuesday on one of the few new hotels planned for Metro Detroit.

The Hyatt Place at the Suburban Collection Showplace will be a six-story building with 126 rooms. It is scheduled to open in late spring next year.

The new hotel is a shift of the Hyatt name to Novi from Dearborn. 

Hyatt parted ways with the new owner of the 700-room hotel near Dearborn's Fairlane Town Center in May because the Hyatt chain didn't think it could attract the large amount of convention and group meeting business it used to depend on, industry analysts told the Detroit News.
