Popular property mapping site Why Don't We Own This (WDWOT) announced a new feature rolling out next week.
"Blexting," or blight + texting, allows users to text in pictures and condition information for properties around Detroit.
Why Don't We Own This currently color codes properties by tax status into one rather beautiful and alarming map (seen above). It also gives details on property ownership, foreclosures and gives detailed intel on the Wayne County Property Auction.
Blexting will help users understand the current property conditions in Detroit, which usually always look different than the alternative Google or Bing streetview images, most of which were taken between 2008 and 2012.
Loveland Technologies, the company that created WDWOT, posted on Facebook:
the first mission will be surveying the 16,000 detroit properties at the auction for occupancy and structural distress.
So, blext away people!
