A Milford Township man who was beaten by his wife with a metal rod in late November died over the weekend, the Oakland Press reports.
Gregory Cortis, 68, died Saturday after being hospitalized since Nov. 30, reports Carole Hopkins of The Oakland Press.
Yvonne Cortis remains in custody charged with assault with intent to murder and animal torturing. The torturing stems from her beating the family dog, Carly, according to police. The dog is recuperating, the paper reported.
The charges are expected to be upgraded.
“We will be working with the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office to enhance the charges to a murder case,” Milford Police Chief Thomas Lindberg said, according to the paper.
