Off-Duty Highland Park Cop Fatally Shot in Detroit

An off-duty Highland Park reserve office was shot and killed early Saturday morning outside a Detroit night club where he was working security, WXYZ reported.

WXYZ reports that the incident happened at the Opyum Lounge on 8 Mile near Telegraph.

The station reports the off-duty officer threw out a couple men from the club, who waited outside for him.  When he came out to the parking lot, the men shot at him.

The station reports that a third man saw what was going on and shot back at the two men shooting at the officer.

Police report the three men involved in the shooting were taken into custody, the station reports.
