Cafe-style streetside dining can enliven Woodward downtown this summer after all, a Detroit official tells Violet Ikonomova of WWJ.
“We can issue the patio permits through July, then we can extend them on a month to month basis,” said Detroit Public Works Director Ron Brundidge.
The timing of work along the M-1 light rail project route had created uncertainty. Construction now is tentatively scheduled to start in August, the radio station reports.
Grand Trunk Pub owner Tim Tharp was told in early April that he could not open his Woodward patio for the spring and summer. . . . As a result, he scaled back hours for some employees. . . .
Tharp says the late notice cost him a month of extra business.
