For two weeks now, we've invited surrogates of mayoral candidates Mike Duggan and Benny Napoleon to step into the ring with Darrell and make their best case for their candidates. Obviously, we would have loved to have the candidates themselves, but we know these last week's of the campaign are busy and believed their surrogates could do a fine job representing both Duggan and Napoleon.
We never heard back from Napoleon's campaign. Duggan's communications director emailed to say they weren't interested: "Thanks for the offer, but we're going to take a pass on this one. Maybe it's because I've heard Darrell too many times on Mildred [Gaddis' radio show] preaching against Mike."
However, just because these politicians want to dodge a tough interview, don't think Darrell Dawsey won't ask the tough questions anyway. So, sitting in the One Round ring with an empty stool, Darrell asks questions of both candidates that deserve straightforward answers.
He also challenges both Team Duggan and Team Napoleon to reconsider playing possum and sit for a One Round segment before Election Day.
