Christina Hall of the Detroit Free Press reports that Macomb County assistant prosecutor Steve Fox, 38, was cited for carrying a weapon on school property after his pistol was found in a zippered pocket of a jacket he inadvertently left at the Cheyenne Elementary School in Macomb Township his son attends.

Fox said he was picking up his son from school after 7:30 p.m., ran inside and inadvertently left the coat and gun behind. A janitor discovered the gun on March 3, the Freep reports.

Fox 38, paid a $500 civil fine and $100 in costs last week, according to 41A District Court in Shelby Township, the Detroit Free Press reports.
