Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr on Thursday approved a $275,000 transition team budget for Mayor-elect Mike Duggan.
Lisa Howze, who is on the leadership transition team, told Deadline Detroit that she sees the budget approval as a "positive step toward cooperation between the Duggan transition team and the emergency manager."
She said it's still too early to tell how much authority Orr will give Duggan to put together a complete cabinet. Still, she said the team is soliciting resumes for executive level positions to see what talent is available.
She said the transitional budget will be used to pay stipends for the leadership team and other expenses. The team will operate through the end of the year.
Howze, a certified public accountant and former state representative who in the mayoral primary, chairs he team with former Detroit Police Chief Ike McKinnon.
The other top members are campaign manager Bryan Barnhill II and John Roach, the campaign spokesman.
