Coach Van Gundy doesn't mince words
The Pistons are trying to make the post-season, and currently hold the ninth playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The top eight teams make the playoffs.
Monday was a reminder that while the team can beat anyone in the NBA, it can also lose badly to anyone, too.
On Monday, the Pistons were in D.C. and got killed by the Washington Wizards by a score of 124-81.
The Wizards, who had just come off a five-game losing streak, hold the tenth spot in the playoff standings and want badly to beat Detroit to get that eighth spot. The Chicago Bulls currently hold that last spot.
“Tonight we wanted it more than them, and knowing what position we were in, I think that’s the reason why we won the game,” Wizard star guard John Wall said, according to The Washington Post.
Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy, who can sometimes be more fun to watch after a loss, tells The Detroit News:
“We got our ass kicked at both ends. They dominated us. I’m not going to do a lot of analysis on this — there is none.
“They dominated us, both ends. They played hard; we didn’t. They played well; we didn’t.”
