Matt Stafford after Sunday's game.
Quarterback Matthew Stafford suffered a joint dislocation and torn ligaments to the middle finger of his throwing hand Sunday.
ESPN blogger Michael Rothstein reports:
Stafford will be wearing a glove for the remainder of the 2016 season after injuring the middle finger on his right, throwing hand. He’ll wear the glove to protect the finger, but even Sunday after he helped beat the Chicago Bears 20-17, he admitted that it affected his accuracy and the velocity of his throws.
And that has to be a concern for the Detroit Lions, who have relied so much on his accuracy and velocity during their 9-4 start this season. . . .
Stafford’s injury will raise questions for the rest of the Lions' season.
He is their most indispensable player, not only because of the position he plays or the skill he possesses, but because of how much the Detroit offense has been partially tailored to fit his skill set and how he has been the unflappable leader of the Lions during all their crazy, last-minute, fourth-quarter comebacks.
He still managed to lead the team to victory Sunday against the Bears at Ford Field, but he wasn't as sharp as in some of the previous games.
