Paul Carey

Paul Carey, the longtime Tiger broadcaster who shared the booth with Ernie Harwell for 19 years, died Tuesday night at age 88, the Detroit Free Press reports. 

Carey had been in hospice care for about six weeks, and he died of  complications from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and heart disease, his wife Nancy said, according to a story  by Freep reporters Anthony Fenech and George Sipple,.

Carey worked with Harwell from 1973-91. He worked for WJR from 1956-92.

β€œThe team of Ernie and Paul was, such a great team,” current Tigers play-by-play radio announcer Dan Dickerson tells the Free Press.
