Local photographer Michelle Andonian and musician and composer Luis Resto, who co-wrote the Eminem song "Lose Yourself," are collaborating to produce a visual-musical work about an abandoned, industrial stretch along the Detroit River that will eventually become part of the bike path along the Dequindre Cut
Andonian is creating a silent film about that path. Resto is improvising beautiful music to accompany the film, which remains a work in progress.
Andonian is working to film the changes in all four seasons along the path. The video also includes still shots.
So far, Andonian says she’s done a segment of the film: a 16-minute video on summer along the path.
“I’m working on putting together films for fall , winter and spring," Andonian tells Deadline Detroit.
The film was shown at the Detroit Deign Festival last fall and Music Hall in January.
Resto played live at those showings, improvising the music.
“The music is always improvised each time it’s performed,”Andonian say. “It’s never the same. “
Earlier this week, PBS’s Detroit Peforms aired a 6:45 minute video about the project.
The video includes clips of a live performances by Resto, and Andonian walking along the cut, graffiti very prominently displayed in the background.
