From maintaining a widely loathed bowl system to insisting on the legitimacy of its laughable "student-athlete" designations, the NCAA is nothing if it's not a money-making machine.
What Jerry Sandusky did to those poor boys—often times within the confines of the Penn State athletic complex—was horrifying beyond belief. And in enabling him, the late Joe Paterno and the Penn State administrators who knew what was happening and chose to remain silent are themselves co-conspirators in the worst kind of evil.
But jailing one criminal doesn't mean a damn thing in terms of righting the listing ship of college athletics—not as long as the larger mafia is still allowed to run amok.
