The upscale Townhouse restaurant and bar creates a buzz among office workers in downtown Detroit with its greehouse-style patio, a hard-to-miss sign outside and a Manhattan-like feel inside.
The 314-seat restaurant at 500 Woodward Ave. in the One Detroit Center office building, recently bought by Dan Gilbert's real estate division, is the creation of restaurateur Jeremy Sasson, whose opened a smaller location with the same name in Birmingham four years ago -- also in summer.
Jeff Bianca , chief officer of operations of both restaurants, says Thursday afternoon that business has "been fantastic" since Monday's debut. So far, so good.
The place has two bars, a whiskey room and a seafood bar. Its menu includes sandwiches, fish, soup and salad, burgers, hangar steak, elk and sushi.
A brunch menu is planned for Saturday and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., starting next weekend, Bianca says.
