Tragedy struck again in the Kalamazoo area.

About 3 1/2 months after a crazed Uber driver went on a shooting spree, killing six and wounding two, the area is dealing with another tragic incident.

Five cyclists were killed and four injured Tuesday around 6 p.m. in Cooper Township outside of Kalamazoo in a hit-and-run crash with a pickup truck near Kalamazoo, MLive's Angie Jackson reports.

The adult cyclists were struck from behind while riding along the 5500 block of North Westnedge Avenue, MLive reports.

Police arrested the  50-year-old driver a short distance from the disabled vehicle. Authorities are trying to determine the cause of the crash.

MLive reports that three different police agencies had received calls of an erratic pickup driver, starting about 26 minutes before the incident.
