Trey Burke
Sorry, Pistons fans.
Unquestionably, many local fans wanted the Pistons to draft Trey Burke, the star University of Michgan point guard.
But noooo.
Detroit had a chance to draft him, but passed. Instead, Detroit picked freshman shooting guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope from Georgia. He was the eighth pick.
Burke was picked ninth. The Minnesota Timberwolves took him, but then promptly traded him to Utah for two later picks in the first round, according to Yahoo Sports.
Caldwell-Pope averaged 18.5 points and 7.1 rebounds in his lone season at Georgia, according to the Detroit News.
Somewhere down the road, who knows? Maybe Burke will wear that Piston jersey. -- A.L.
