Reggie Jackson

Piston Reggie Jackson, who was traded to Detroit from Oklahoma City during the season last year, has good things to say about Detroit.

He also says something a little unflattering about Detroit.

In an interview with MLive's Aaron McMann, he's asked what the difference is between Oklahoma and Detroit.

What are some of the differences between Oklahoma City and Detroit?

Jackson: Probably the weather. Here, it gets cold. You got homely people in both places. Probably a little more (here) -- I haven't been out too much, but they had super-religious places in Oklahoma. But it has the same kind of welcoming feeling and I'm enjoying it. This is one of those places that has grit, and everyday we're proud of the people that work hard. You get what you work for, and I love that aspect.

In the interview he also has some good things to say about Detroit.

MLive.com: I was going to ask you about that. The perception of Detroit is rough.

Jackson: Yeah, it's tough out here with the economy and everything that's going on. Everybody's got to eat in a dog-eat-dog world. But the people are very friendly. I think it gets looked over. Like you said, the perception is not well, I had a certain perception before I got here. But it's very Midwestern. People are loving, people are caring, but it's a grind mentality. They have a never-say-die (feeling) in their battle with adversity.
