The last time I was at Grand Circus Park's R.U.B. BBQ Pub in downtown Detroit, it was Nov. 7, the day before the presidential election, and Donald Trump Jr. was speaking to a small, but enthusiastic crowd, telling them: "My father is doing this for you. As I said, he doesn’t need this but he loves the American dream."
Well, everyone knows the American dream includes a good slice of pizza. The owners of the restaurant figured that one out.
The restaurant has closed and expects to re-launch on Monday as the Brass Rail Pizza Bar with its own signature pizza, reports Brenna Houck of Eater Detroit.
“We came off a very successful 2016 sales-wise,” General Manager Jesse Francisco says of R.U.B.
But he tells Eater that management saw an opportunity to expand into the relatively underdeveloped downtown pizza market.
“This is a 100 percent rebrand,” he says. “Being where we’re located, with the volume that we do, it’s just a better way to get our product to the most people.”
