Update, 11:05 p.m., Wednesday: The Detroit News reports that Detroit Police spokesman Sgt. Michael Woody commented on the death of electrician Michael Morrison at Little Caesars Arena, saying: “Based on our investigation, he climbed on that scaffolding with the intent of committing suicide."
Original post, Wednesday:
An electrical worker died Wednesday morning after a long fall at the Little Caesars Arena project in downtown Detroit.
"A worker fell approximately 75 feet from a catwalk," Deputy Fire Commissioner Dave Fornell sayts, according to WWJ. “When we arrived, he was found in cardiac arrest and they did CPR and he was transported to the Detroit Medical Center Receiving Hospital.”
The worker, not immediately identified, was found in the bleacher area and declared dead at the hospital.
Authorities are investigating whether he wore proper safety equipment, such as a lip-on harness.
