Detroit Police are investigating Tigers reliever Evan Reed after a woman complained she was drugged and sexually assaulted by Reed in a Motor City Casino hotel room, according to Gina Damron and Anthony Fenech in the Free Press.

In a statement, the Tigers said: “The organization is aware of the very serious allegation that has been made against pitcher Evan Reed. This allegation is concerning and we are aware of an on-going investigation. It would be inappropriate for the ball club to comment further at this time.”

Reed, 28, remains with the Tigers for a seven-day trip to the West Coast.

The alleged incident occurred in the early morning hours a day before Opening Day.

Video surveillance footage shows the woman getting out of a cab with Reed at the casino and her struggling to stand and walk, according to the source. A security guard, who helped Reed into his room because he did not have his key, said the woman appeared to be intoxicated, the source said.

Reed's attorney, David Gorcyca, the former Oakland County prosecutor, said Reed has not been contacted by the Detroit Police Department.

“I was informed this morning that the Detroit Police Department has opened an investigation involving Evan Reed,” Gorcyca said in a statement. “We are very confident that once a thorough and full investigation is completed, Mr. Reed will have nothing to fear.

Reed, who is single, is listed at 6-feet-4 and 255 pounds.
