Aramark Correctional Services, which seems to be better known these days for problematic employees rather than good food service, has another problem on its hands.
Paul Egan of the Detroit Free Press writes that an Aramark Correctional Services worker at Kinross Correctional Facility in the eastern Upper Peninsula is suspected of asking an inmate to arrange to have another prisoner killed. The employee has been banned from the prison.
The Freep reports that a Michigan State Police official confirmed that the allegation was being investigated and that an arrest warrant is being sought from the local prosecutor.
The Freep writes that police said an inmate complained in July that a food service worker approached him about arranging a hit on an inmate in a prison in the Lower Peninsula.
In the past, Aramark workers have been arrested for drugs, and state lawmakers have urged the governor to cancel the contract with the food service provider. The company, which took over the state's food services for prisons in December, has also been cited for food shortages, unauthorized food substitutions and for workers getting too familiar with inmates.
