Two police sergeants who are accused of the robbery and assault of three people in July are scheduled to be arraigned on related charges Monday afternoon, George Hunter reports in the Detroit News.
Detroit Police Sergeant David A. Pomeroy, 47, and St. Clair Shores Police Sergeant Michael Notoriano, 42, are charged with felonies and are to appear before Magistrate Sidney Barthwell at 2:30 p.m. Monday in 36th District Court, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.
Notoriano, the St. Clair Shores police sergeant accused of robbing three men, ages 26, 27, and 28, on July 21 at an east side Citgo gas station on French Road, has claimed he sought out the men to get what he believed they had taken from his teenage daughter — $500 and her cellphone, according to police sources. Notoriano is believed to have contacted Pomeroy, a 20-year veteran in Detroit, to assist him in the incident. The two sergeants wore their badges around their necks and drew their department-issued pistols when they allegedly robbed the three men in their 20s, police said.
Notoriano is also accused of striking the 28-year-old in the face with a handgun.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy also announced her office is charging one of the men allegedly robbed by the cops. He is Dwayne Weathington Jr., 24, of Detroit, who will face charges for the unarmed robbery and assault of Notoriano‘s 16-year-old daughter. He is accused of knocking her off a bicycle and stealing her cell at a Detroit gas station.
