Sterling Heights police killed a 54-year-old man Saturday during an argument with his wife.

Norb Franz of the Macomb Daily reports that police went to a home on Lola Drive, near Dodge Park Road and Metropolitan Parkway, at approximately 6:50 a.m. after the couple’s 9-year-old daughter dialed 911.

Officers entered the home and saw the husband standing over his wife with a rifle pointed at her, the paper says.
When police ordered him to drop the gun, the man reportedly turned and pointed it at an officer, who fired.

The man was pronounced dead at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township. No one else was injured. The couple had been going through a divorce.

The husband's name was not released Saturday.,
