At a recent rally in Midtown Detroit for Black women voters for Harris

A Suffolk University/USA TODAY network poll shows Vice President Kamala Harris enjoying a surge of support among Black voters in Michigan, the Detroit Free Press reports.

Just over 70 percent of Black Michigan voters say they'll vote for or lean toward Harris, compared to 9 percent who favor Trump. A little more than 6 percent said they favor Robert Kennedy Jr. and a small group supporting other third-party candidates.

That compares with a Suffolk University/USA Today polltaken in June which showed that 54 percent of Black Michigan voters favored Biden compared to 15 percent for Trump, the Freep reports.

The latest poll surveyed 500 registered voters and was conducted Aug. 11-14. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percentage points.

Black voters in a close race in Michigan could be the difference in the race.
