An 18-year-old Pontiac woman is facing charges in the death of her infant cousin who died more than a year ago from severe burns, the Detroit News.
Breeze Macha Henke was arraigned Friday in Pontiac's 50th District Court on charges of homicide/manslaughter, a 15-year felony, and second-degree child abuse, a 10-year felony, Karen Bouffard of the Detroit News reports.
The News reports that Henke was babysitting for her 12-month-old cousin Samaria Chambers on July 26, 2014, in a home in the 200 block of South Sanford in Pontiac. Oakland County sheriff’s investigators allege she held the baby down in a tub of scalding water because she was angry the child’s diaper was soiled.
Bond was set at $250,000. She's being held in the Oakland County jail. A hearing is set for Aug. 25.
