A Southwest Detroit freshwater fish restaurant "closed its doors last week for unspecified maintenance, but as it turns out that temporary closure was code for 'new restaurant,'” Brenna Houck of Eater Detroit notes.
The Huron Room at 2547 Bagley Ave. is transformed into Fist of Curry, with the same owners. The menu features dishes inspired by Japanese, Indian, Jamaican and Thai cooking, Melody Baetens of The Detroit News reports:
The change happened quickly and without any hype. Co-owner Jacques Driscoll —who also owns Johnny Noodle King and Green Dot Stables with his wife Christine Driscoll and their business partners Les and Jessica Molnar — said they’ve been working on the concept for a while but decided to keep the change under wraps because "it's fun."
"We’ve been working on the menu for six months,” said Driscoll, who debuted Fist of Curry Wednesday afternoon. . . . “We've transformed the place."
