Shipping containers are increasingly being used to house people and businesses.

Here's the latest: The Detroit-Wayne County Port Authority on Monday unveiled a new riverfront attraction -- a maritime museum in a shipping container as a recognition of National Maritime Day.
Dana Afana of MLive reports:
The "Portal View," a used shipping container placed in front of the Port Authority building near Atwater and Bates streets, houses an interactive computer system provided by Boat Nerd, displaying the locations of vessels on the Great Lakes.
The 20-foot-high container cost $3,500, according to Leslie Horn, project manager and CEO of Three Squared, a Detroit company that holds about $75 million in contracts in container projects.
