I’m not usually the first guy to suggest sending money and other fine things to Dan Gilbert or any other billionaire (they're billionaires, after all), but God bless Gilbert for rescuing a Michigan International Speedway NASCAR race from the indignity of once again being called the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400.

One just can’t take any event called that seriously.

Instead, the June 17th Sprint Cup raise will be called the Quicken Loans 400—a perfectly respectable corporate sponsor name for a stock car event. – JTW
