A Macomb County Circuit Judge Wednesday blasted a man who raped a 12-year-old Warren boy and then ordered him to spend virtually the rest of his life in prison.
Judge Edward Servitto called DaJuan Gratton “every parent’s worst nightmare.”
He added: “This is some of the most deprived, despicable conduct I have ever seen.” “It’s incredible. Absolutely incredible. You are every parent’s worst nightmare."
Gratton, 22, of Warren, was sentenced to about 85 years in prison after a jury in April determined him responsible for last November’s abduction and rape of the middle schooler on residential streets in central Warren.
It is the highest sentence in Macomb County in recent memory for a case that is not first-degree murder, which carries an automatic penalty of life in prison without parole. “He won’t be eligible for parole until after those 80-some years,” said his attorney, Dan Garon.
